Privacy policy

In short: we use your file only to translate it. The original and the translation are deleted from our servers within 24 hours. We don't sell your data, we don't use your documents to train AI, and we don't use cookies or ads.

Who we are

Samedoc (samedoc.app) is a product of Pedrock LLC ("we", "us"). For any privacy question or request, write to hello@samedoc.app.

What we collect

Your documents. The file you upload, a preview image of it, the translated file and a short technical report (the text we read and its translation, timing and checks).
Your choices. Languages, model and settings you pick for a translation.
Your email, only if you give it. When you ask to hear about a tool that isn't ready yet, we store your email and that tool's name, and use them only to send you one email when it launches. Ask us at hello@samedoc.app to delete it.
Technical data. Your IP address, kept in memory for up to 24 hours to apply fair-use limits, and standard server logs (IP address, time, page requested), kept for a limited time to run and protect the service.

You don't need an account, and we don't ask for your name or payment details today.

How we use it

To read and translate your document and rebuild it in the same layout.
To show you the result and let you download it.
To prevent abuse (for example, limiting how many documents one visitor can translate per hour).
To fix errors and keep the service working.

Who processes your data for us

OpenAI reads and translates the text in your document. We send page images and text through OpenAI's API. Under OpenAI's API terms, data sent through the API is not used to train their models; OpenAI may keep it for up to 30 days to detect abuse, then deletes it.
Microsoft Azure hosts our servers (Sweden).
Cloudflare provides our domain name service.
Google Fonts serves the fonts on our pages, which means your browser connects to Google.

We don't sell or rent your data, and we don't share it with anyone else, unless the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Uploaded files, translations and reports are deleted automatically within 24 hours. The link to your result stops working at that point, so download your file before then.

Cookies and tracking

Samedoc doesn't set cookies and doesn't use analytics or advertising trackers today. If that changes, we'll update this page first and ask for consent where the law requires it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU and UK, or state laws in the US), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your data, or to object to how we use it. Because we delete documents within 24 hours and don't keep accounts, there is usually nothing left to provide after that. Write to hello@samedoc.app and we'll answer within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Sensitive documents

Payslips, official letters and similar documents can contain personal information. Only upload documents you are allowed to share with us for translation. You can black out anything you don't want translated before uploading.

Children

Samedoc is not meant for children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
